Vince "KINGPIN" Lucido designed EVGA's last flagship card.

His first video on the new Overclocking Kingpin channel describes one decision that went wrong.

The RTX 3090 Ti KINGPIN Hybrid was meant to be a card that could run at its full potential.

He wanted dual 12VHPWR power connectors.

NVIDIA wanted it limited to a single connector.

"Right before the 3090 Ti KINGPIN launched, NVIDIA tried to force us to use one power connector on the card and it really screwed the production timeline up of my card and it actually ended up being severely limited because of it," he said.

The card shipped about three months after the base RTX 3090 Ti.

It went on sale at $2,500 with a bundled 1600W power supply, against $1,999 for the standard card.

Far fewer units were built than planned.

It was the last flagship EVGA ever made, and in September 2022 the company ended its NVIDIA partnership and stopped making graphics cards.

Lucido is working with ASUS now.

One disagreement about power delivery starved the product line it was supposed to crown.

For a team that needs GPU memory on a deadline, the same kind of dependency sits in the middle of the roadmap.

Allocation, lead times and spec changes you do not control are not a plan.

RTX 3090 capacity at $0.15/hr removes them.

Nothing up front, storage at $2.49/TB per month, and Buy Now Pay Later so the first invoice lands a month after the work starts.

What did a supplier change on you after you had already designed around it?
